How to Connect to GlobalProtect

The following steps will walk you through connecting to GlobalProtect an HDS owned/managed computer.  If you are installing GlobalProtect on your own person machine, please consult the Division of IT's GlobalProtect page for instructions, FAQ's, and settings.

  1. Click on the GlobalProtect icon in you system (lower right by the clock).  If you do not see the GlobalProtect icon, click on the up arrow in the system tray to show hidden icons.  If the icon still does not show up, that means GlobalProtect is not installed on your computer.  Only laptops and desktops that are taken off campus will need to have GlobalProtect installed on them.

  2. Clicking on the GlobalProtect icon will show you the GlobalProtect connection box.  The box will display the current status of the connection (in this case, there is not connection).

  3. When you click on the "Connect" button, you will be show a prompt to sign into GlobalProtect using your eID credentials.
Please note: This is a change from how you have signed in previously. In the past, you have needed to use your HFS domain credentials. Moving forward with GlobalProtect, you will need to use your eID username and password.
  4. You will be prompted to authenticate your logon with Duo. More information about Duo can be found at (http://duo.colostate.edu).

  5. Once you have authenticated with Duo, you will receive an initial Successful Connection welcome screen.  Note:  Check the "Do not show this again" checkbox to not be notified about a successful connection (and close the window) if you do not want to receive the message again.

  6. You can verify your connection by looking at the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray.  It will now be a color icon instead of a gray icon.  Clicking the icon will also show your connection status.
