- Navigate to the “Apple” icon in the top left corner of your taskbar. Then select “System Settings”.
2. Once in “System Settings”, navigate down to the “General” tab
3. In “General”, you should see “Software Update” as the second option from the top.
4. Upon opening this tab, your Mac will check online momentarily for any available updates. Once your Mac has done searching for updates a few things may happen. You may get a message saying that your Mac is up to date, which that means that no further is needed for the meantime! If updates appear you may get one or two different versions to update to.
If you check for updates around in the later part of the year you may get security updates for your current version of MacOS, in addition to the option to upgrade to a new mainline version (ex: 2X.0 or 2X.0.X). If this appears, while you are not necessarily required to update to the 2X.0 version (due to general potential glitches), please do the full upgrade once the 2X.1 version appears.
If any security updates are available (ex. 26.5.2) then please update to them at your earliest convenience.
